Turning House

When you first see Turning House furniture, you will immediately recognize the uniqueness that extends to each piece. The wood we use and our fresh designs are the defining trademarks of our company. We reclaim aged beams and flooring from old buildings that are rich in history but beyond repair or restoration. We then transform this beautiful aged timber into environmentally conscious, solid wood creations of the highest quality. Like the ancient craft of woodturning, we preserve the integrity and spirit of the wood’s history to showcase its distinct character.

Nothing compares to the look and quality of solid wood furniture. The vintage wood we use has weathered generations in factories, mills and warehouses, developing a rich character and patina that would be impossible to recreate in new wood.

Our Company takes the utmost care in preserving the quality of the wood we use; from the moment it is reclaimed to the day it hits the showroom floor—an extraordinary level of quality control. We never cut corners or compromise our craftsmanship. And because all of our furniture is solid wood, with no particleboard or fiberboard, it will be beautiful and functional for generations to come.

Compare our furniture with any other made from new wood and we believe you will see the difference in the quality and character of Turning House.

Scattered across the country are structures that were once integral parts of our nation's industrial period, a time when past generations toiled in textile plants, factories and mills to build a better life for their families. Many of the massive old buildings that housed these businesses have long since been abandoned. They are not considered historically significant, and are often in locations where renovation would be futile and rehabbing unfeasible. These buildings do, however, contain a wealth of beautiful old wood.

Turning House Furniture brings these buildings—and all the rich history they contain—back into people's lives in the form of beautifully made furniture from vintage wood. We strive to keep the stories of these once proud buildings and businesses alive.

Turning House Furniture strives to be a good steward of the Earth by creating environmentally sustainable, vintage wood furniture. We understand that our natural resources are not limitless and that we all must do our part to preserve them for future generations. By reclaiming wood from abandoned buildings, not only do we create some of the most interesting and beautiful furniture you can find; we also eliminate the need to cut down new trees—saving as many as 19,000 trees with one reclaimed building. In addition to the wood, we recycle 98 percent of the structure, including bricks, copper and steel, even the nails extracted from the wooden beams and boards. We also use recycled materials for packing and shipping.
