Kincaid

Kincaid

J. Wade Kincaid began his furniture career in 1924 at the age of 14 by assembling drawers for a small western North Carolina furniture company. Working his way up to a plant manager's position, he was able to put aside a small amount of money, and used it to start his own grocery store. However, it wasn’t long before Kincaid realized his heart was really in the furniture business. In 1946, he purchased a small furniture company in Hudson, North Carolina with $4,900 of his savings, $4,900 from his father George, and $200 from his sister Ruth, for a total investment of $10,000. In the true spirit of American ingenuity and hard work, Kincaid Furniture was born.

Solid Wood

For four generations, Kincaid Furniture has been built on a philosophy to make wood furniture in its most natural form; using Solid Wood construction.

Crafted in America

Wherever it is practical, Kincaid Furniture utilizes our U.S. facilities to make our furniture. We have been blessed to have a skilled and dedicated family of employees in western North Carolina who take great pride in crafting Kincaid Furniture. Our commitment to domestic manufacturing is very real and is a large part of who we are. Additionally, we integrate globally sourced products and components which enable us to offer a wide variety of styles and materials. In either case, the quality standards are the same.

Honest Value

At Kincaid Furniture, we focus our efforts and our resources on those details that provide the greatest value to the consumer.

The Little Things

Does it matter to you that your dresser rests level on the ground? Is it important to you to have drawers that work well even when they are completely full of clothes? Maybe it matters to you that the parting rails that hold the case together are flush and stay that way after you move the furniture when you redecorate? If these things do matter, then you'll get along great with Kincaid Furniture! We build leveling feet into nearly every cabinet type piece of furniture we make (with only the very smallest ones being the exception). We use a dove-tailed hardwood-on-hardwood guide that is further braced with a tilt-proof clip so that your drawers don't end up by your ankles! We actually pre-drill and then screw tight many of the parting rails (the structural wood rails that create the drawer opening) in addition to the requisite use of glued mortise/tenon joinery. While this goes almost totally unnoticed, it is another reason why Kincaid Solid Wood Furniture is such a remarkable value.

Custom Upholstery

The same emphasis on quality and value are key in our line of soft goods. Kincaid Custom Upholstery takes those benchmarks and makes it easy to apply your tastes, your needs and your sense of style. From the construction of the spring suspension system in the frame all the way to the fringe on the toss pillow, you can have it just the way you want it. And what good is upholstery if it isn’t comfortable? We offer four cushion types, each paired to its own back and arm pillows, to give you the feel and look of your customized sofa or chair.

I bet you didn’t know this...

Kincaid has a line of Memory Foam bedding that was recently recognized as an industry best by the trade publications! We also offer an extensive line of bedding ensembles designed to work great with your Kincaid bedroom.
